The head has a body (10) defining an internal housing for a reel (2) and provided with a peripheral orifice to release length portion of a cutting filament that is disjointed from the reel, where the body is driven in rotation by a motor. A central core (13) is designed to support the reel, and includes an arrangement designed to collaborate with the reel to ensure that the core and the reel rotate together. The core rotates relative to the body. The arrangement of the core includes a housing (134) to maintain free interior end (220) of the reel. An independent claim is also included for a cutting assembly for a vegetation cutting implement e.g. edge trimmer or brush cutter.
