The device has a heat recovery unit (30), a spacer unit, and a heat conductive derivative element that is arranged such that the derivative element is placed in contact with a surface of a solid product i.e. metal product. The heat recovery unit includes a heat transfer fluid such as gas and/or liquid, and the spacer unit is arranged in contact with the heat conductive derivative element. The derivative element is arranged with a base plate (31) on which the solid product rests upon. The spacer unit is arranged for circulation of the heat transfer fluid. An independent claim is also included for a housing.
