The converter (1) has a hysteresis comparator (9) generating a switching signal for controlling a switch (7) to generate a current through an inductor (3). A controller (11) provides a control voltage of the current through the inductor to a terminal of the comparator. A current generation stopping device (15) is adapted to modify a value of a voltage applied to another terminal of the comparator to stop switching of the switch. The stopping device is adapted to add a shift voltage to a voltage representative of the current through the inductor applied to an inverse input of the comparator.
