The unit has a set of vertical uprights (7), and horizontal rungs (8) that are fixed to the vertical uprights for forming transverse scales (6) to carry storage racks for receiving a set of products. The transverse scales are fixed transversely parallel to each other at a longitudinal rigid support structure (5). The rigid support structure allows maintenance of the transverse scales with regard to each other. A longitudinal guide rail (4) is fixed along the scales for receiving a stacker crane for gripping products moving along the racks on the rail. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an automated storage assembly (2) a method for installation of a modular unit.
