Use of a water-soluble copolymer as an agent for improving UV-absorbent capabilities of sun protection compositions comprising particles of titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, is claimed. The copolymer comprises (a) at least one acrylic acid monomer and methacrylic acid monomer and/or their salt, and (b) at least one monomer (I), and has a molecular weight of 25000-50000000 g/mole determined by gel permeation chromatography. Use of a water-soluble copolymer as an agent for improving UV-absorbent capabilities of sun protection compositions comprising particles of titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, is claimed. The copolymer comprises (a) at least one acrylic acid monomer and methacrylic acid monomer and/or their salt, and (b) at least one monomer of formula (R-X-R1) (I), and has a molecular weight of 60000-50000000 g/mole determined by gel permeation chromatography. R : polymerizable unsaturated function, preferably methacrylate (preferred), acrylate, methacrylurethane, vinyl or allyl; R1 : H or 1-4C-alkyl, preferably H or CH 3; X : structure comprising ethylene oxide n units and propylene oxide m units, disposed randomly or regularly; and m, n : 2, preferably 0-100. An independent claim is included for a solar protection composition comprising, in a support, 0.1-50 wt.% of titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, and UV radiation filtering agents and the copolymer.
