The device (1) has a tank (2) to receive water to be cooled, and a cold production group to cool the water contained in the tank. The group comprises first refrigerating circuit (3) including first heat exchanger (31) i.e. serpentine, in contact with the water of the tank and in which heat transfer fluid i.e. food grade fluid, circulates in loop. The group includes second refrigerating circuit (4) in which refrigerant circulates in loop. The second refrigerating circuit cools the heat transfer fluid circulating in the first refrigerating circuit by transfer of heat with the refrigerant.
