The cable (10) has an inner functional core (3), an outer protective sheath (2), an elementary area (Zi) having a sensor element (Ci), and another elementary area (Zi plus 1) having another sensor element (Ci plus 1). Each sensor element is intended to perform a measurement of a health parameter e.g. temperature, of the cable in the respective elementary area, where the sensor elements are intended to communicate with each other. The sensor elements are connected by a communication link that extends along the length of the cable. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a harness of an aircraft (2) a method for monitoring a longitudinal cable (3) a method for monitoring a harness of an aircraft.
