The device has a floating water intake comprising a stainless steel float (1) for supporting a ringed stainless steel hose (2), where the float includes a central orifice traversed by a central mast (3). An internal outlet (5) for venting the balloon is associated with an anti-overpressure overflow valve to maintain atmosphere of the balloon. The float is guided inside a balloon. A diffuser (4) is arranged in lower part of the balloon to support stratification of temperature of water. The diffuser has a perforated sheet, so that the cold water is distributed on bottom surface of the balloon.
