The device (1) has a housing (10) for calculating a charge state estimator (SOCoff) remaining in a battery (40) at a time of stopping a thermal engine and another charge state estimator (SOCon) at a time of starting the thermal engine. An error determination module (20) calculates a difference (E-SOC) between the two estimators. A supervision module (30) is coupled with the error determination module to modify a set-point (C-SOC) by adding the calculated difference to the set-point when the former estimator is higher than the latter estimator. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motorized system (2) a method for preserving a charge state of a battery (3) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for executing a method for preserving a charge state of a battery.
