The method involves preparing a base (4) by applying a sequence of a recharging material layer (10) on a substrate (11). A test-piece (1a) of the base is extracted, where the test-piece includes two end regions (7, 8) intended to be fixed on the flanges or jaws of a test machine, and a middle zone (9) located between the end regions. The two end regions and the middle zone are extracted from a recharged area (12) of the base, where one end region is extracted from the substrate, and the other end region is extracted from the recharged area of the base. An independent claim is also included for a mechanical characterization method.
