The method involves providing a cylindrical metal part (2) with two zones (6, 22) that respectively exhibit two diameters (d, d'). Another cylindrical metal part (1) with an internal opening (10). Two parts of the latter metal part are assembled around one of the zones of the former metal part such that the opening surrounds the former metal part. The two parts of the latter metal part are fixed to each other by a welding process. The latter metal part is moved into the zone at the other zone of the former metal part to fix the latter metal part on the former zone of the former metal part. An independent claim is also included for an assembly of two metal parts.
