The block unit (80) has an actuation device controlling an opening of contacts while moving in translation of a movable contact bridge according to a direction that is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (X). Two half-shelves are formed in an identical form and comprise respective ribs (85) collaborating with a recess of a base of a shutting-off device in order to delimit two gas discharge breaking channels, where each channel is connected to an internal volume of a housing (31) by an opening formed in one of the half-shelves. An independent claim is also included for a shutting-off device.
