The housing has a fixed unit (1) including a free external surface (5) presenting a cylindrical geometry of revolution and an instrumented zone (7). The instrumented zone extends radially between a front bridge (11) and a back bridge (12) whose external diameter is equal to that of the external surface. A set of axial sides (9, 10) is separated from a central bridge (13) and the back bridge, so that the instrumented zone is allowed to present a side passage (15) extending axially lengthwise while leading to the back face from the fixed unit. An independent claim is also included for an assembly of a rolling bearing.
