The device (1) has a lifting unit i.e. winch (4) provided with a connection (5) e.g. cable, for connection with a top of a cover (2). The winch is motorized for raising and moving the cover relative to a basin (3). A stop (6) is provided for blocking a horizontal component of displacement of the cover during its lifting by the winch. The stop is intended to be affixed at the basin, and intended to cooperate with an edge of the cover during the displacement of the cover, where the connection is intended for winding or unwinding around the winch.
