摘要
A flame effect fire consists of a liquid reservoir 160, a heating element 180, at least one wick 150, arranged so it is in contact with the liquid and so that the heater evaporates the liquid to generate vapour; a light source 170 to illuminate the vapour and a fuel bed (fig 2, 115) arranged so that the illuminated vapour simulates a flame originating from the fuel bed. Optionally the heating element is a flat, low voltage, metal ceramic heater and may be attached to the end of the wick. The wick may be either tubular with a circular cross section or a rectangular sheet, and may be coloured to look like ash. The light source may also function as the heater, and may be detachable from its power source and movable relative to the fuel bed. It may consist of multiple elements, which may be LEDs, of multiple colours, and may be controllable to create flicker effects. The fuel bed may consist of multiple elements (fig 2, 116), which may themselves be formed from an absorbent material and function as the wick, containing the heaters within them.
