Provided is a pharmaceutical composition or healthcare food composition comprising licorice extract. The composition comprises alcohol soluble and non-water soluble licorice extract and Chinese wolfberry. The composition can be used to prevent and/or treat hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and/or obesity. Also provided are pharmaceutical formulations comprising the composition, use of the composition in preparing medicaments, methods of treatment and methods of preparation.
