The invention relates to a soft sensor, based on the calculation model 1 for online estimation of the steel bath temperature 8 in an electric arc furnace during the steel melting process. The sensor comprises of acquisition of the EAF operational measurements 2 and the calculation model 1, which can be comprised of several modules 3-7 describing mathematical relations between the EAF input powers, such as current arc power and oxygen fuel burner powers, and their efficiencies 3, chemical reactions, chemical powers and the correspondent mass transfers 4, input mass calculations 5, distribution of powers to solid and bath phases 6 and melting rate and temperature calculations 7. The invention is suitable for EAF assemblies, which incorporate the online measurement system capable of measuring the needed process values in real time.
