PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified cotton fiber that has voids formed inside a cotton fiber and to provide a functional modified cotton fiber that has functional fine particles supported in the internal voids of the modified cotton fiber and hardly causes the dropout of the functional fine particles.;SOLUTION: The modified cotton fiber is produced by means as given below. A cotton fiber is immersed into a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution to intrude sodium hydroxide into the inside to the cotton fiber. After that, the cotton fiber is heated and dried at 100°C or higher to crystallize sodium hydroxide. Then, the cotton fiber is immersed into water and the sodium hydroxide crystal is dissolved to remove sodium hydroxide, followed by drying the cotton fiber at ordinary temperature. The functional modified cotton fiber is produced by immersing the modified cotton fiber produced by the above-mentioned means into an aqueous dispersion having functional fine particles composed of inorganic fine particles dispersed in water and, by a specific means, supporting the inorganic fine particles in the voids of the inside of the modified cotton fiber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
