UTILIZATION OF TRUE RESISTANCE GENE PITA-2 IMPARTING RESISTANCE TO BLAST DISEASE AND OF ALLELE PI19 THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify and isolate a sequence of the true blast disease-resistance gene, the gene not having identified and isolated so far, by screening mutant in which the true resistance gene to the blast disease is deleted, and further by using a map-based cloning method; and to provide a method for modifying true resistance of the plant to the blast disease by utilizing the gene sequence thus identified and isolated.SOLUTION: The problem is solved on the basis of identification and isolation of base sequences encoding the true resistance genes Pi19 and Pita-2, by introducing the genes to a plant.
