PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to obtain a high rejection enhancing effect by effectively cleaning an RO membrane with heavy organic contamination before a rejection enhancing treatment of the contaminated membrane when performing the rejection enhancing treatment.;SOLUTION: In a rejection enhancing method of a reverse osmosis membrane, the RO membrane is brought into contact with a cleaning fluid comprising an alkaline solution having a pH value of 10 or higher and containing hypochlorous acid and/or hypochlorite or a chloramine compound before performing a rejection enhancing treatment by contacting the RO membrane with a rejection enhancing agent and is cleaned. Organic matter adhered to the RO membrane can be efficiently removed by cleaning the RO membrane using the alkaline solution having a pH value of 10 or higher and containing hypochlorous acid and/or hypochlorite or the chloramine compound before performing the rejection enhancing treatment. In the subsequent rejection enhancing treatment, the rejection rate of the RO membrane is effectively enhanced by a repair effect due to the adsorption of a rejection enhancing component.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
