PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent aqueous mold release agent having no problem on work environment, capable of efficiently taking out a flexible or semi-rigid polyurethane foam from a mold and having no residual material in the mold at all, and to provide a method for production of the flexible or semi-rigid polyurethane foam molded article using the release agent.;SOLUTION: There is provided a mold release agent applied in a mold 10 for molding a flexible or semi-rigid polyurethane foam before pouring a molding material therein. The mold release agent comprises an aqueous composition including, as a main component, a polyurethane aqueous dispersion whose 90 degree peeling strength required for peeling from a tin-plated steel sheet is 0.1 to 0.5 kN/m.
