PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate sound generation that matches an intention of a player's performance operation while preventing an adverse effect on auditory feeling even when a continuous performance operation is performed with an overlapped part.SOLUTION: An electronic musical instrument includes one or more assigners that select pitch which generates sound on the basis of a predetermined rule in accordance with an operation state of a plurality of operation sections each corresponding to the pitch, stores a selection history of the pitch of each assigner, and changes the predetermined rule for the assigner whose stored selection history has satisfied a predetermined condition to a later-arrival priority that selects the pitch of the operation section in which a sound generation start operation is performed last (S22, S23).
