PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic radioactive solid waste treatment method capable of reducing time required to remove cations of radionuclides from organic radioactive solid waste.;SOLUTION: Organic radioactive solid waste such as used ion exchange resin and cellulose-based filtration assistant generated from a nuclear power plant is loaded into a treatment tank. An oxalic acid aqueous solution supplied to this treatment tank dissolves iron oxides adhering to the organic radioactive solid waste (first washing step S1). The oxalic acid aqueous solution in the treatment tank is discharged and then an aqueous solution containing a formic acid and hydrazine at a pH in a range from 4 to 5 and an oxalic acid concentration in a range from 2 to 4 mol/L is delivered into the treatment tank (second washing step S2). The aqueous solution containing the oxalic acid and the hydrazine elutes cations of radionuclides adsorbed by the organic radioactive solid waste from the solid waste. A removal ratio of the cations of radionuclides from the organic radioactive solid waste improves.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
