PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy saving apparatus for reduction of bottom friction resistance during navigation of a small ship.SOLUTION: An apparatus for reduction of bottom friction resistance directly utilizes exhaust gas of the main engine, instead of a pressurized gas, and is based on guiding the exhaust gas to an exhaust port in the bow of a ship during navigation and discharging the exhaust gas out of the bottom to form bubbles. During navigation by the exhaust pressure of the main engine, pressurized gas is formed by operating a separate exhaust pressure drive compressor, guided to the exhaust port in the bow of the ship and discharged out of the bottom. In both cases, the apparatus for reduction of bottom friction resistance utilizes bubbles without use of additional energy. For small ships, fishing vessels, and the like characterized by a V-shaped bottom, a plurality guide plates in parallel with one another are attached to right and left R surfaces with a keel of the bottom between them, pressurized gas is discharged from an exhaust port close to the bow between the guide plates out of the bottom so that the residence time of the bubble is extended until the bubbles reside and float upward between the guide plates, leading to sufficient effects of the bubbles.
