PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strain application method to a continuous casting cast piece capable of measuring continuous shell thickness without enlarging a device.;SOLUTION: In a strain application method to a continuous casting cast piece, a pushing roller 10 is provided movably forward and backward for a transportation path 8 of a cast piece C comprising unsolidified molten metal M and a solidification shell S which surrounds the circumference of the molten metal M and the pushing roller 10 is pushed against the solidification shell S to apply a strain, in an arbitrary timing with which the cast piece is transported through the transportation path 8. The pushing roller 10 preferably has such a profile that a roller main body 15 is made continuously higher from both edge parts in the width direction toward the center and, further, a forward and backward moving amount for the transportation path 8 can be preferably arbitrarily set by a cylinder 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
