PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water turbine for an open channel having a runner shape restricting loss at the time of beginning of irrigation and syneresis as well and a power generator having this water turbine installed therein.SOLUTION: In order to reduce loss when a runner of a water turbine for an open channel is set at the beginning of irrigation or syneresis, there is provided the structure in which the extremity end of the runner is shaped as an acute angled mountain-shape and a skirt part of the rear part of the runner is made wide. With this arrangement as above, since the extremity end of the runner stands at the beginning of irrigation, a resistance accepted from water is reduced as much as possible and at the same time water can enter the back face fast from the extremity end of the runner, and after the beginning of irrigation, pressure of flowing water can be received by the entire runner. In addition, when the runner stands at the syneresis, air flows in immediately from the extremity end of the runner, so that water is not fed into a space between the runners and the water is discharged smoothly toward the rear part. Accordingly, the number of rotation and the torque are increased and the turbine efficiency is improved more as compared with that of a conventional water turbine.
