PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical radiation detecting element suppressing the occurrence of a problem caused by polarization and a manufacturing method of the same.SOLUTION: A radiation detecting element 1 comprises: a crystal part 10 made of an ion-electron mixed conductor that is a compound in which heavy metal ions (thallium ions) and anions (bromine ions) are bonded together; a metal electrode 13a formed on one surface of the crystal part 10; and a metal electrode 13b formed on a surface facing the surface on which the metal electrode 13a is formed. The crystal part 10 includes, on the surfaces formed with the metal electrodes 13a, 13b, metal containing parts 12 that contain thallium in which bromine elements are selectively removed to make the thallium ions neutral.
