PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable out-of-surface deformation prediction method.SOLUTION: A prediction device executes: an input step of receiving input parameters necessary to predict an out-of-surface deformation of a cable with curling tendency; an equivalent-material-physical-property-value deriving step of deriving an equivalent material physical value of an entire cable; a curling-tendency-shape forming step of forming a finite element analysis model reproducing a shape having a curvature radius of the curling tendency; a residual-stress-distribution calculating step of calculating a stress distribution within the cable by linearly deforming the cable; a rotational-angle setting step of setting a rotational angle of axial rotation of the cable for determining a setting direction of the curling tendency; a cable-deformed-state calculating step of deforming the cable according to a load condition input in the input step while assuming that the calculated stress distribution and the set rotational angle as initial states, and calculating a deformed state and an out-of-surface deformation amount of the cable; and a calculation-result output step of outputting a calculation result of the deformed state and the out-of-surface deformation amount of the cable to an output device.
