PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for darkening a bright spot defect of a liquid crystal panel that can reliably darken the bright spot defect of the liquid crystal panel.;SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel 15 includes: a color filter substrate 13 where a plurality of pixels are arranged; a thin film transistor array substrate 14 for driving pixel electrodes corresponding to each pixel; and a liquid crystal 7 encapsulated between the color filter substrate and thin film transistor array substrate. The method for darkening a bright spot defect of the liquid crystal panel includes: a first laser irradiation step for irradiating a bright spot defect pixel with a laser beam in a smaller spot size than the pixel to modify at least a part of the color filter substrate, and lowering light transmittance; and a second laser irradiation step for irradiating the bright spot defect pixel with a laser beam under a laser processing condition different from the first laser irradiation step, and uniforming a thickness of an area modified in the first laser irradiation step.
