Anti-PNAG monoclonal antibody and use thereof for preventing or treating poly-N-acetylglucosamine (PNAG) expressing bacterial infection

Methods are provided for treating or preventing microbial infections (eg, bacterial infections) that involve PNAG-expressing microorganisms (eg, PNAG-expressing bacteria) in the underlying pathology. The methods of the invention generally involve administering to a subject an effective amount of an antibody that specifically binds to PNAG. Such a method is particularly useful for the treatment of nosocomial staphylococcal (eg, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus) infections.
