PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire profile data for each cache set of cache memory.SOLUTION: A variable update device performs the steps of: calculating a byte address of an array X and assigning it to m0 (92); calculating a cache set number of an address m0 and assigning it to e0 (92); determining whether or not the cache set number e0 is a set number s which profile data acquisition processing is in charge of (94); and determining whether or not tag information corresponding to the byte address of the array X is stored in a storage unit when the cache set number e0 is the set number s which the profile data acquisition processing is in charge of, counting up a hit variable by one when the tag information is stored in the storage unit (hit), counting up an error variable by one and storing the tag information in the storage unit when the tag information is not stored in the storage unit (error), and executing the same processing to the next data of the next array X. Profile data is obtained from the hit variable and the error variable.
