PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration wave driving device which inhibits expansion of an occupied space and unnecessary vibration and reduces output loss.SOLUTION: A vibration type driving device includes: a vibrator having an electromechanical energy conversion element; a movable body provided with the vibrator; a contact body which contacts with the vibrator provided at the movable body; a support member which supports the contact body; and a moving mechanism which moves the movable body relative to the support member. The vibrator and the contact body are arranged so that the vibrator moves relative to the contact body in a first direction. The moving mechanism moves the movable body relative to the support member in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction on a flat surface arranged in parallel with a surface where the vibrator and the contact body contact with each other.
