PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color moving image motion estimation method and a color moving image motion estimation apparatus.SOLUTION: The color moving image motion estimation apparatus includes: a motion estimator (6) for computing a temporary motion vector of an incoming color moving image with an existing color plane of a reference frame as a reference image and a color plane of a referral frame having the same color plane as the reference frame separated from the reference frame as a referral image; vector scalers (8, 10) for scaling the temporary motion vector according to distance relationships among a target frame having a different color plane from the reference frame, the referral frame and the reference frame to produce a corrected motion vector; and motion re-searchers (7, 9) for making a re-search for a motion vector to a peripheral portion centered on the corrected motion vector with the existing color plane of the reference frame as a reference image and a color plane of the target frame as a referral image to produce a motion vector of the target frame.
