PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a laser output and return light in a fiber laser processing machine; and a processing head of the fiber laser processing machine.SOLUTION: There are provided: 1. a method for detecting a laser output and return light in a fiber laser processing machine including a processing head equipped with a condensing lens 3 that condenses light reflected from a bend mirror 5, with which light transmitted through the bend mirror is allowed to be incident to absorbers (11, 15), and the light (L, L) scattered from the absorbers is detected by light detection means (13, 17) to detect a laser output of a portion to be processed and light returned from the portion to be processed; and 2. a processing head of the fiber laser processing machine, equipped with a condensing lens that condenses light reflected from a bend mirror to a portion to be processed, which is provided with a first absorber that absorbs light transmitted through the bend mirror and a second absorber that absorbs light returned from the portion to be processed and then transmitted through the bend mirror, so that the light scattered from the first absorber and the second absorber is detected by light detection means to detect the laser output at the portion to be processed and the return light from the portion to be processed.
