Weather radar signal processing device and the ground clutter removal method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately distinguish between remaining ground clutter after MTI (moving target indicator) processing and weather echo.SOLUTION: The MTI processing A1 extracts a weather echo component, by removing the ground clutter component from IQ data of a signal receiving a reflected wave from a target. Spectrum evaluating processing A2 then calculates a pulse-pair resultant vector that is sequentially normalized from the weather echo component; calculates an estimation index for estimating the flatness of spectrum from an absolute value of the sum of the pulse-pair resultant vector; and removes the ground clutter and holds the weather echo, based on the estimation index. Finally, a noise removal processing A3 removes noise, by performing threshold processing for the power value of an amplitude component with regard to the estimation index calculated by the processing A2, and by removing an isolated point, thereby evaluating the flatness of the spectrum, and removing the ground clutter through the threshold processing with respect to the estimation index.
