PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nondestructive testing method for efficiently detecting and imaging a damage of large structure such as an aircraft, aerospace structure, a high-speed vehicle, and a marine vessel by using Lamb waves which propagate in a thin plate.;SOLUTION: A Lamb wave damage imaging system 10 is constituted of: a laser drive device 1 for making a test object excite Lamb waves by irradiating the test object with a laser beam; an object 2 which serves as the test object; a reception sensor 3 for detecting the Lamb waves; a discriminator 4 which performs waveform processing such as filtering to a detection signal; an oscilloscope 5 which converts the signal into digital data to be displayed; and a PC 6 which totals the obtained data to perform imaging processing from the data, etc. Since the Lamb waves form dispersion of waves and part of energy of the waves is reflected when the Lamb waves hit a damage, amplitude of transmitted waves is attenuated. A damage area and the shape of the test object are estimated and imaged from difference of amplitude data between the Lamb waves which pass the damage and the Lamb waves which do not pass the damage by using a nature of amplitude attenuation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
