PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a construction method for an intake and discharge channel capable of being simply constructed in comparison with a method for joining a shield tunnel 61 on a lateral surface of a conventional vertical shaft.SOLUTION: A steel box 1 is installed on a sea bottom. A diagonal tube 5 is positioned inside the steel box 1. A sharply-curved shield machine 6 makes an entry into the diagonal tube 5 from under the steel box 1. A temporary cover 51 is attached to an upper end of the diagonal tube 5.
