PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for mounting a heat insulating material to a duct, the tool which enables weight reduction of a duct and which is capable of eliminating one of causes of process delay by completely eliminating the occurrence of black scale by welding on site and of mounting and supporting the heat insulating material safely and securely by avoiding welding nuts to the duct, and to provide a method of mounting a heat insulating material to a duct using the tool.SOLUTION: The tool for mounting a heat insulating material to a duct, which is used for a square type duct, for which the thickness of the heat insulating material mounted on its outer periphery is required to be 150 mm or more and through which a high or ultra-low temperature gas is passed, consists of an upper metal fitting, on the surfaces of which, arranged along the upper surface and one side of the square type duct, the heat insulating material is mounted, and a lower metal fitting, on the surfaces of which, arranged along the lower surface and the other side of the square type duct, the heat insulating material is mounted. The upper metal fitting and lower metal fitting have fixing portions for being fixed surrounding the square type duct.
