PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively and efficiently producing cobalt oxyhydroxide-coated nickel hydroxide which is excellent in stability as a battery material without using an expensive oxidizing agent.SOLUTION: Cobalt oxyhydroxide-coated nickel hydroxide including a core material of nickel hydroxide particles represented by general formula: NiCoM(OH)(x is 0.005-0.05; y is 0.005-0.05; and M is one or more of Ca, Mg and Zn) and a cobalt oxyhydroxide coat layer on the surface of the core material is obtained by the method comprising a coating step of continuously producing cobalt hydroxide-coated nickel oxide by supplying nickel hydroxide slurry and a cobalt salt aqueous solution to a reaction tank and also supplying an alkali aqueous solution so as to keep pH 9.5-10.5; and an oxidation step of continuously producing the cobalt oxyhydroxide-coated nickel hydroxide by supplying an alkali aqueous solution and air to slurry of the cobalt hydroxide-coated nickel hydroxide to oxidize it.
