PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber drawing furnace and an optical fiber drawing method which use an existing cylindrical heater and can simply achieve the uniformization of the temperature in the circumferential direction in heater heating.;SOLUTION: The optical fiber drawing uses the optical fiber drawing furnace equipped with a furnace core tube 3 through which an optical fiber preform 2 is supplied, a cylindrical heater 4 surrounding the furnace core tube, electrode units 5a, 5b to feed a power to the cylindrical heater, an insulating material 6 surrounding the outside of the cylindrical heater, and a furnace case surrounding the whole. In drawing, the cylindrical heater 4 is heated to a temperature of heating and melting the optical fiber preform; and terminals 9a, 9b of the cylindrical heater are connected and fixed to the electrode units 5a, 5b at positions of a thermally expanded state of the cylindrical heater, and the optical fiber preform 2 is heated and melted, so that the cylindrical heater 4 becomes in a true circular state when the optical fiber preform is heated and melted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
