PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and quickly localize a position at which a core wire is disconnected in optical fibers.;SOLUTION: In an optical communication device 2a, when an alarm signal is provided from an optical reception alarm circuit 9a, a control circuit 7a provides a trigger signal for a switching circuit 8a so as to switch connection from a laser diode 12a to a signal processing unit 16a, and also provides a control signal for the signal processing unit 16a so as to activating an OTDR. The signal processing unit 16a controls the laser diode 12a to radiate pulse light and receives back-scattered light via a light reception unit 18a to obtain an OTDR waveform, and locates a disconnected core position (Ka) to transmit disconnected core position information to a monitoring system.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
