PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for induction hardening, excellent in cold forgeability when molded into a steel component, and capable of enhancing a torsional strength of the steel component after induction-hardened, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The steel contains, by mass, C:0.4-0.65%, Si:0.01-0.5%, Mn:more than 0.65% and 2% or less, P:0.03% or less (not including 0%), S:0.002-0.1%, Cr:0.30-3.0%, Al:0.06-0.50%, B:0.0005-0.010%, and N:0.02% or less (not including 0%), and the remainder is iron and inevitable impurities. The steel has spheroidized structure.
