PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure light intensity of propagating light in a coated optical fiber by using leakage light of the coated optical fiber without referring to a table that depends on a coating diameter and coating material of the coated optical fiber.;SOLUTION: An optical power meter includes two bending sections 11a and 11b where the coated optical fiber is bent at respective sections with curvature radiuses smaller than a leakage limitation radius and which cause light leakage of the propagating light L1 in a coated optical fiber at equal leakage rate at respective sections, a light measurement unit 12 for measuring the light intensity of the leakage light L1 from the bending sections 11a and 11b of the coated optical fiber 10 separately for two bending sections, and a computation unit 13 for calculating the light intensity of the propagating light in the coated optical fiber 10 by using the light intensity of the two sections measured by the light measurement unit 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
