PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the amount of biomass in a region with terrain deformation such as mountain area. PSOLUTION: SAR simulation image data are produced from DEM data involving elevation above the ground surface (S104). Parameters are selected so as to accord the SAR simulation image data produced with the SAR image data (S106). Based on the SAR simulation image data and the SAR image data both accorded, amount of terrain deformation is computed (S107) of the SAR image data. Based on both the SAR simulation image data and the SAR image data, scattering an intensity of SAR image data is computed (S108). For the SAR image data, correction of the amount of terrain deformation and correction of scattering intensity are performed to estimate the amount of biomass in a region with terrain deformation.
