PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a homogeneous flocculant at low cost using brown algae, in particular brown algae scheduled to be disposed of, as the raw material, having no variation in the flocculation capacity.;SOLUTION: The brown algae are treated with acid aqueous solution, the brown algae treated with the acid aqueous solution are washed with water, the washed brown algae are dried, the dried brown algae are pulverized into powder, and the pulverized brown algae powder is mixed with powder of a sodium compound to obtain the flocculant.
