摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy for damping which has excellent vibration damping performance and high strength, and a damping material.;SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy contains 0.01 to 6 mass% of Zn and the balance Mg and inevitable impurities, and substantially contains no element of Y, La and Zr. By including a specific element and substantially excluding a specific element, the magnesium alloy has excellent damping performance with minimized internal friction, high hardness with high Vickers hardness, and excellent strength.
