PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistance at press molding with no decrease in productivity in a metal mold for molding an optical device and a method for molding an optical device.;SOLUTION: The metal mold 1 used for molding has a lower mold 2 and an upper mold 3 which have respective molding surfaces 2A, 3A for transferring a shape of an optical device, and press mold a heated and softened glass material by the molding surfaces 2A, 3A, wherein the surface roughness of the molding surfaces 2A, 3A exhibits an anisotropy in which the surface roughness as measured along the radial direction with the molding surface centers O₂, O₃ as the centers is smaller than that along the circumferential direction orthogonal to the radial direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
