PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing dimethyl ether stably over a long time, a method for producing the catalyst without carrying out a hydrolysis step or steps such as a neutralization/precipitation step of precipitating a solid from a solution, and a method for producing dimethyl ether.;SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing dimethyl ether contains ≥80 mass% alumina in terms of Al2O3 and further silicon and magnesium. The method for producing the catalyst for producing dimethyl ether comprises the steps of: mixing an aluminum source, a silicon source, and a magnesium source to obtain a powdery raw material; and firing the powdery raw material. The method for producing dimethyl ether comprises a step of subjecting methanol to a dehydration reaction in the presence of the catalyst for producing dimethyl ether.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
