Double stranded rna molecules are described that are toxic to coleopteran insects. Arnbc are molecules that are capable of interfering with Gene IAP (inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein) of pests and are toxic to the target Pest, particularly from an IAP Gene of an insect of the genus Diabrotica.Furthermore, methods are described to synthesize and use RNA interference, for example, in transgenic plants to confer protection against damage caused by insects, as well as insecticidal compositions.
