The present invention provides a liquid, prolonged-action intimate hygiene composition comprising: a pH regulator for the mucous membranes; a moisturiser; and a component that stimulates the grow of (resident and beneficial) saprophyte flora. This prolonged-action combination maintains a balanced pH in the mucous membrane to which it is applied, regulating skin acidity, preventing or minimising the proliferation of undesirable microbial or bacterial flora; and is tissue-moisturising and regenerating. Also disclosed are methods for producing this composition.
